Water Meter Change Out Program
Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority has contracted with Lenegan Plumbing & Heating of Ocean City NJ to upgrade our residential water meter system within your development because your existing water meter is over 15 years old and has reached its shelf-life. Lenegan will replace your existing meter with a newer style integral radio transmitter, at no cost to you.
Work will begin on or about Monday, September 8, 2025, and will continue through December 2025. Prior to that time, you will be contacted directly by Lenegan to schedule an appointment for the replacement.
The sooner you respond to the request for an appointment, the more flexibility Lenegan will have to accommodate your specific scheduling requirements.
Please keep in mind the following information when scheduling an appointment:
- An adult over the age of 18 must be home at the time of the appointment.
- The average upgrade time of the meter is 30 minutes.
Lenegan’s employees will be uniformed, carry photo I.D. and will have permanently lettered service vehicles. Please feel free to verify the meter installer’s credentials prior to the commencement of work.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this work, please feel free to contact Lenegan Plumbing & Heating at (609) 525-0681 or www.ocnjplumber.com
Water Service Line Material Survey Program
In July 2021, Governor Phil Murphy signed into law P.L. 2021, Ch.183, which requires all community water systems in NJ to identify all lead service lines, provide public notification regarding the presence of all lead service lines, and replace all lead service lines by 2031.
Since 1965, the Authority has specified that the utility (public) portion of the service line be made of copper; and, although no lead service lines have currently been identified, it is possible the customer-owned portion of the service line could have been composed of lead up until the State of New Jersey banned the installation of services composed of lead in 1987.
With the change out of your meter, Lenegan has also been contracted to report your service line composition so that you will NOT have to schedule an additional appointment or complete any type of survey that you may receive notice for in the next few months.
If you have any questions regarding the Water Service Line Material Survey Program, you may reach the Authority at 732 928-2222 ext. 226.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
Sincerely,
Jim Diaz, Office of the Executive Director
