Sanitary Sewer System
The Jackson Township Municipal Utilities Authority’s sewer division operates and maintains the Township of Jackson’s sanitary sewer collection system and pump stations. The sanitary sewer program provides for the operation and general maintenance of the Townships sewer mains including an on-going flushing program using a high pressure jet wash to reduce hydrogen sulfide buildup, sewer main backups, and odors. Television inspection and sealing programs are used to reduce inflow and infiltration. These programs also control the harmful effects of corrosive chemicals on sewer structures and protect against sanitary sewer overflows. All of the waste that is collected in our system is directed to the Ocean County Utilities Authority, where it undergoes a treatment process and is then discharged. To learn more about this treatment process please visit the Ocean County Utilities Authority web page.
